What is this architecture?

Stephane has found this architectural site in the South of Belgium, not far from the French border. It is situated at 5 ‘rue des mineurs’ in Quaregnon. Quaregnon is at the heart of Borinage, this is an ancient mining site which once produced a lot of coal, one of the centres of the industrial revolution. Today there are still some traces of the operation, including the presence of 23 dumps.
This building neighbors ‘Grand Hornu’, another crazy architectural site, which was formerly a complex of charcoal. Stephane wonders if it is a shopping center or a factory.

The truth:

It is a specialist primary and secondary school, It was funded by the French community. According to the director it is very expensive because in winter it is difficult to heat.
